Being in Pennsylvania, while watching the Republican Convention I can take a little comfort that Governor Corbett Pennsylvania’s slash and burn Governor was too much an embarrassment to be allowed to speak. The Democratic Convention was a lot better until Mayor Nutter, Philadelphia's slash and burn Mayor was the honored guest.

So when I try to cheer the Democratic Convention, Obama clearly better on foreign policy (no Romney flip flops on foreign policy) I have to figure out how to do it without cheering Mayor Nutter fining people for feeding the homeless, avoid cheering Philadelphia public unions under attack, avoid cheering public space near the art Museum, that was public space from before Pennsylvania joined the Constitution being fenced off for private pay only concerts with expensive beer and snacks but a crime to bring beer or even food from the outside

If you only look at ones personal life as to what's important in a political leader then some lightning rod characters fit the bill. No lavish parties or two-timing personal rants, or sexual flings or gaudy expensive entertainment or extravaganzas. It is rare for people to really practice what they preach. Work and serious business comes first, but still plenty of time for family matters. Rick Santorum has eight children, one died at birth. Ron Paul has five. A picture of Ron Paul with his children, grandchildren and in-laws is an amazing crowd.

Ron Paul and family,

Past politicians leveled with the America people such as Jimmy Carter. Winston Churchill managed to convey bad news and be inspirational while he did so.

Winston Churchill during World War II promised the British people that much hardship lay ahead, not the usual way for a politician to inspire. To claim Ron Paul is doing the same thing is stretching Churchill's message quite a bit, yet he is the closest thing there is to Winston Churchill in the 21th Century.

Jimmy Carter leveled with the American people on what he considered grim news on the environment as he raised the gasoline tax. Al Gore likewise had some grim news.

In Philadelphia everyone watching the news, and spread around the country by the pro-life movement was the horror of an old-fashioned back-alley styled abortion clinic, with it's injured women (three died) and several babies born alive then killed. As usual in recent America the solution in moral arguments is to try to put as many people in jail for as long as possible, (the staff except a 15-year-old), longer than abortionists served before Roe v. Wade.

In one incident took the ambulance 20 minutes to get a patent on a stretcher through the clutter, but was unable to save the patent's life. Amazingly the place stayed open for over two decades. The National Abortion Federation turned the clinic down for membership, inspected the place and called it filthy and dangerous because of a padlocked emergency exit, although, “A but didn't call 911 or compain to any agency. Although a doctor from the Children’s Hospital hand-delivered a complaint to the Health Department after numerous patients returned from Gosnell’s facility with venereal disease from unsterilized instruments” according to Nation magazine.

Florence Mason had to go to court, when she came back she discovered that her brother was harassed, her kids pOt into detention and later that her family dog euthanized by the SPCA.

Occupy Philly is helping her the way LA and MN is fighting evictions

Florence Mason has papers stating that she wasn't supposed to be evicted when the landlord hadn't made repairs. But when she had to go to court, they came to evict her and her brother didn't know where the papers were. Her kids put into detention, and her dog was euthanize by the SPCA. Occupy Philly is getting involved the way LA and MN has,

Laptops were stolen from Occupy Philly communication tent and email chatter ceased. Old laptops that don't send pictures or sound out of the attic or something may be helpful. Someone could come and let others send emergency communication while they watch. Old news, I again think a phone with a lot of mailboxes would be something for more stable communication. This may be the worst moment for this to happen with the city breathing down everyone's neck.

Last year ethnic and racial stiff around the world kept getting worse reminiscent of the Great Depression. But suddenly with the Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street movements ordinary people are getting along with each other better. The latest scheme of allowing only 9 to 7 pm protest without tents or heaters could undo some of the gains.

Occupy Lancaster is fighting to keep a previously little used Post Office from closing, perhaps Occupy Philly can try to keep 15th and Chestnut near by businesses open all night, giving Philly a touch of 24 hour night life.

With Occupy Philly tension is in the air, and backing down to a worse location is the wrong signal and some will stay anyway, ruining the spirit of the Occupations being a united effort.

Occupy Philly might ask which quarter of Dilworth Plaza might be vacated in order for skating rink construction to begin, while continuing to ask for a permit for two locations.

By the way the drawings of the future Dilworth Plaza are drab, flat and clash with all the beautiful grill work of City Hall's antique charm. The present three dimensional effect with ramps, stairs and benches add to the antique charm. It needs updating but not made flat,
