The labor group Partido ng Manggagawa (Worker's Party) and the Philippine Airlines Employees Association (PALEA), the ground crew union at the national flag carrier, both expressed support for the planned strike of the Flight Attendants and Stewards Association of the Philippines (FASAP).

Judy Ann Miranda, secretary general of PM, declared that “FASAP’s brothers and sisters in the labor movements stand as one body and speak with one voice in solidarity with the struggle of the flight attendants. We will mobilize our members, especially women workers, to support their fight.”

Meanwhile Gerry Rivera, PALEA president, stated that “PALEA members will respect any picketline that will be setup by FASAP. We will be with them in the picketlines.”

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) says that all comrades are equal, and cadres fulfill division of tasks within the organization. All are subject to Party policies under the principle of the individual is subordinate to the organization, the lower organ is subordinate to the higher organ, and the whole Party is under the Central Committee.

A young cadre, however, begs to vociferously disagree that every cadre, high or low, is subject to Party discipline.

Many Party members have been meted disciplinary actions for sexual opportunism. But as the article below contends, some top-ranking officials, especially founding CPP chairman Amado Guerrero aka Prof. Jose Maria Sison, are allowed to flout the policy on the relationship of the sexes. A few are more equal than the rest, to paraphrase George Orwell in his "Animal Farm."

Dear friends and comrades,

by

It's party time in Utrecht. And it's not about the Communist Party of the Philippines.

Apologists say comrades should give Prof. Jose Maria Sison aka Amado Guerrero or Armando Liwanag some slack. He has to socialize with friends and allies. One of his friends is Asia Agcaoili, known in Philippine showbiz as the outspoken sex guru.

Granted. But will the CPP allow the comrades in the guerrilla fronts to party with skimpily clad beautiful young women? Or will the leading organs impose disciplinary actions against the male comrades, the Red Fighters who have been away from their families to dare to struggle, dare to win the new democratic revolution?

MANILA, Philippines—Gabriela Women's Party Rep. Liza Maza and Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos can look forward to spending more time together.

MANILA, Philippines—Gabriela Women's Party Rep. Liza Maza and Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos can look forward to spending more time together.

Maza on Monday said she and Marcos would be in one group of the Nacionalista Party senatorial candidates touring the country during the campaign period.

The NP divided its 12 senatorial candidates into two groups to maximize the exposure of the party's candidates. Maza would be in one group while Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo would be in another group of senatorial candidates.

Besides being illegal and uncool gender discrimination is something to be eliminated from any civilized society concerned with moving itself forward. Like racism sexism, unfortunately is still alive and kicking. For a long time it was something people tended to overlook, excuse and deny. If women were on TV in powerful roles they must have achieved equality. If we didn't hear about it discrimination didn't exist.

The fact is it does and recently oozed from the bowels of antiquity kicking dust off ugly and nasty sentiments from the past.  It seems certain politicians believe when they decide it's convenient using sexist sentiment is okay to whip up support.  It also reveals deeper beliefs about women and their "place" in society coming from a certain side of the political spectrum.

That women should be subservient to men despite the law is what it says.  It excuses attitudes towards women not tolerated towards men.  Recently some very visible examples have played out publicly.
