Time is running out for Troy Davis who is scheduled for execution tomorrow. It's not too late. There's too much doubt in this case and the risk of executing an innocent man is way too high.

Early in the morning on Wednesday, August 24, journalists from ThisCantBeHappening! took on the Philadelphia Inquirer, conducting a leafletting “happening” in front of the paper’s soon-to-be-sold headquarters building on Broad Street. The "Inky", as it is known locally, is the nation's third-oldest surviving daily.

"This summer, Philadelphia should join the growing number of cities and states around the country that have demanded an end to the controversial practice of turning local police records over to federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – essentially turning community safety officers into immigration agents," stated Maria Quiñones-Sánchez.

We discuss the recent statewide hunger strike initiated by prisoners at Pelican Bay State Prison. The strike is put in context, alongside a statewide grassroots movement calling for cuts in prison spending to address California's budget crisis, and a recent US Supreme Court ruling that calls for the reduction of California state prisoners by at least 30,000, in response to overcrowding.

Mostly Black, elderly, fixed-income, disabled residents are being pushed out of their apartment homes, homes they have occupied for 20, 30 years or more, by the ruthless determination of housing corporations, whose only goal is to further their growth and to increase profits. And these corporations accomplish their goal in Style with the misuse of young Black managerial staffs all too eager to please, too eager to "get rich quick."
