This talk will address historical affinities and relationships between anarchism and anti-colonial struggles; the political, theoretical and practical implications of relating anarchist thought to such struggles, including the crucial dimension of race; how anarchism can confront present-day manifestations of colonization in all its forms; and what it means to practice active solidarity as anarchists in the global north. While I have certain knowledge to bring to the table, I trust that others will come bringing their own knowledge as well: my hope is that this presentation opens space for productive dialogue.
IAS board member Maia Ramnath is a teacher, writer, activist and dancer/aerialist based in New York City.
This talk is sponsored by the Institute for Anarchist Studies (IAS). Check them out: http://www.anarchist-studies.org/
$5 suggested donation to raise money for the IAS and to cover Maia's travel costs.
