Where are the IMPEACH SIGNS? Effort to stop the War is Lost
Submitted by John H Kennedy Denver CO (not verified) on Sun, 10/12/2008 - 2:08pmI truly do not understand why the peace movement cannot at least temporarily move beyond the topic of stopping the war.
We lost the struggle to prevent the war years ago. We lost the struggle to stop the current funding for the next year when the House voted to fund it through next summer. It is a dead issue until later next spring.
The only effort that could possibly hasten the end of the Iraq War, bring the troops home sooner, and bring accountability to Bush and Cheney
IS IMPEACHMENT...
or rather the start of Impeachment Hearings.
The peace movement needs to start demonstrating for impeachment every week, in every city and town from now until Jan 20th, 2009. It needs to be a national effort and United For Peace and Justice needs to support it at least and lead it if possible.
If the peace movement is more than just being "surrogates for the Democrats", pressuring the Bush Administration when the Dems call and backing away from impeachment to build their relationship with the Democrats...
it is time for peace advocates everywhere to support the holding of Impeachment Hearings.
We have until January 20th at most. Probably just until the end of this session of the House.
Take action. Now. Before the additional Presidential powers assumed by Bush become precedent.
Respectfully,
John H Kennedy
